DIFFERENTLY ABLED (DA) CANDIDATES
Q.1) Who is eligible to take the test under the Differently Abled category?
Ans. As per the “Persons with Disability Act, 1995”, candidate qualifies to be a Differently Abled (DA) candidate if he/she
suffers from any of the listed disabilities, to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a medical authority. Following are the categories
defined by IIM for DA candidates:
a. Low Vision/Blindness
b. Hearing Impairment
c. Locomotor Disability/ Cerebral Palsy
Q.2) What are testing assistive devices?
Ans. Testing assistive devices (TA devices) also known as technical aids are designed to directly enable people with
disabilities to perform a particular task successfully.
Q.3) Which are the acceptable testing devices that I can use/bring to the test centre?
Ans. The approved means of testing assistance that you may select on the application form are as follow:

Q.4) Will the means of testing assistance be provided to me directly at the test centre?
Ans. Apart from the request for a magnifying screen, which will be arranged by the test centre, all other approved means of testing assistance
including abacus, hearing aids, wheelchair, Scribe/reader, need to be arranged by you.
Q.5) I am a DA candidate with low vision / blindness / cerebral palsy. What special accommodation
will be provided to me on the test day?
Ans. Candidates whose disability relates to Low Vision / Blindness / Cerebral Palsy will be allowed to bring a scribe, approved by the IIMs,
during the test. In such cases, you will be provided with a time extension accommodation.
Q.6) What will be the time extension given to me?
Ans. Candidates with Scribe requirement will be given a time extension of one hour, distributed evenly across each section.
Therefore, each section will be 100 minutes and the total time for the test under special accommodations will be 3 hours 35 minutes.
This is inclusive of the 15 minutes tutorial time.
Q.7) What are the eligibility criteria for a scribe/reader?
Ans. The scribe must fulfil the following criteria:
a. Is not a family member or a friend.
b. Is not involved in any academic tutoring or preparation for the test to be administered.
c. Has not completed 19 years of age as of 19 October 2012.
d. Has academic qualification lower than that of the candidate.
Note: A scribe will not be permitted to assist a candidate in case the above criteria are not met.
Q.8) Do I have to fill a form to request for a Scribe/Reader?
Ans. Yes. Please download the “CAT 2012 Scribe/Reader Certification for DA Candidates” document from the CAT website,
take a good print-out, and send the duly filled-in form to Prometric along with the age certificate of the scribe,
no later than 24 September 2012, at:

Q.9) What is the testing date for DA candidates?
Ans. All DA Candidates requiring support during the test will be scheduled to test on 19 October 2012 in selected testing centres.
Q.10) Where can I register for the CAT 2012 test?
Ans. DA candidates should go to www.catiim.in to fill their application form. Prometric will contact
the candidate within 7 days of the completion of the application form with additional information. All DA candidates requiring support during
the test will be scheduled for 19 October 2012 after the closure of the registration window (i.e. after 19 September 2012). The admit card will
only be sent via email by 26 September 2012. DA candidates who do not require support during the test can proceed to schedule their test online.
Q.11) Where do I mail my DA certificate for approval?
Ans. DA candidates will need to write their voucher number and the serial number on the DA certificate and mail it to:

Q.12) From where can I obtain the voucher?
Ans. The voucher can be obtained from selected AXIS Bank branches from Monday, 30 July - Monday 17 September 2012. Please refer to the general category
FAQs on www.catiim.in for additional details.
Q.13) If I am also an SC/ST candidate, and purchased the SC/ST voucher at Rs. 800, will I still be able to receive the DA support I require?
Ans. Yes, if you have a disability as per the Persons with Disabilities Act, you will be provided with support as required. Please ensure you specify these requirement during the online registration process. Note that you can only claim reservation under one category. If you have purchased and used the SC/ST voucher for registration, your candidature will be valid under the SC/ST category.
Q.14) While registering online under DA category, will I myself be able to schedule a test?
Ans. While filling the application form on the website, in case you have selected “Yes” for the “Need support for the test”, you will not be able to proceed to schedule a test and complete the registration. In such cases, you will be scheduled by the Prometric CAT Candidate Care team and will be informed of the scheduled date, time and location via email and/or phone.
Note: You will be informed of the confirmed appointment details latest by 26 September 2012, after the registration window closes.
Q.15) I am scheduled to take the CAT 2012 under the DA category. Will I be allowed to reschedule the test?
Ans. A candidate scheduled under the DA category and requires support during the test cannot reschedule the test. You can only take the test on the specified date, time and location. A DA candidate who does not require support during the test can reschedule his/her test online.
Q.16) What are the identification documents required to be carried to the test centre?
Ans. Candidates will need to bring the following identification documents on the test day:
a. CAT 2012 Admit Card
b. b. At least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification. The name on
your photo identification must match your name as entered in the CAT application. Acceptable forms of photo identification are limited to
Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, College ID (supported with a valid ATM/Credit/Debit Card with your name), Employee ID,
Unique Identification Card (UID), or a notarised Affidavit (in English) with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address.
Photocopies of the original are not acceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification is not
presented.
c. A valid document as proof of SC/ST eligibility (if applicable).
If you are a Differently Abled candidate and have requested for support during the test, please carry the copy of the authorisation of the support mailed to you by Prometric
Important: Admit Card and one photo identification, mentioned above, are mandatory in order to test.
Note: You will have to store all other personal items at the test centre at your own risk. Please do not bring any other items to the test centre, as they are not permitted into the testing centre.
